What Is A Member?
An A-B Credit Union member is an individual who has fulfilled the requirements of membership as defined in the credit union''s by-laws, completed and signed a Membership Application Card, and purchased at least one share in the credit union.
Membership Requirements
The credit union''s by-laws state that membership is open to individuals having a common bond. Individuals have a common bond if they live or work in the counties of Milwaukee, Ozaukee, Racine, Washington, or Waukesha. A qualified individual''s family member(s) may also join the credit union.
When an applicant completes a Membership Application Card, the applicant agrees to be bound by the credit union''s by-laws as amended from time-to-time and all applicable federal and state laws and regulations. The member further authorizes the credit union to investigate employment references and obtain a credit report that may be used to determine the applicant''s eligibility for any accounts or services requested now or in the future.
The cost of one share of the credit union is $25.00. A member must have at least one share in their credit union Share Account during the time the member has an open account or loan outstanding
Membership Benefits
Members have the peace of mind knowing that they are a part of an organization that has existed since 1932. Throughout the years the credit union tradition of people helping people has benefited members from one generation to another and the strength and viability of A-B Credit Union and its experienced professional employees continues to give members the opportunity to place their trust in a sound financial organization that exists solely for their benefit.
As a cooperative, not-for-profit financial corporation, A-B Credit Union is committed to returning more dollars to the member in the form of higher dividends on savings, lower rates of interest on loans and minimal or no fees for services provided.
Through various printed and electronic media, members are given information that is designed to encourage thrift and provide guidance in planning for their future financial security.
With membership comes the right to cast one vote at the credit union''s annual meeting. Voting privileges permit the member to influence changes to the credit union''s by-laws and to participate in the election of the Board of Directors. The Board of Directors are also credit union members. Any member who meets the requirements and qualifications for the position of a Director as stated in the credit union''s by-laws may run for election to the Board.
